At 64th in the world Wu was not an easy draw for the eighth seed, but it was Wu’s first senior match on grass - with his last competitive outing on the surface being in the juniors in 2017.At 5-5 he forced a break point but Wu saved with an ace. Kyrgios, who had began to look uncomfortable midway through the set, seemed to make little effort to regain the advantage as Wu held.

With Wimbledon looming next month Kyrgios, who reached the final in 2022, was keen to get grass-court practice, but his priority now will be assessing his fitness.
