The Hibees support made their feelings knowing at the full-time whistle after St Johnstone picked up a shock win in the capital.
Nick Montgomery urged his Hibs players to keep the faith after their chances of finishing in the top six were left hanging by a thread.
“We had 71 per cent of possession and lose to a team that had two shots on target. We have to accept that’s not good enough, two lapses of concentration in a game where you need maximum concentration. “Until it’s mathematically impossible, we have to believe. We’ve been on a good run. We lost at Rangers last week and I’m really disappointed to lose that one today because we needed to win. We could have put big pressure on the teams sitting above us but it’s out of our hands now.”
Hibs were stunned when they fell behind four minutes after the restart. Matt Smith’s ball over the top sent Sidibeh racing clear down the right and he kept calm to slot past Hibees keeper David Marshall, with a VAR check for offside confirming the goal.
