Hülkenberg será “una pieza importante de la transformación” en el proyecto y estará muy involucrado en el desarrollo del monoplaza, dijo Sauber en un comunicado. Aportará la experiencia adquirida con más de 200 carreras en la F1 desde 2010, aunque es dueño del récord de ser el piloto con más carreras sin subir al podio. Como el único alemán en la parrilla, Hülkenberg también encaja en los planes de promoción de Audi.
