IOPC Nicola Bulley probe into 'one police officer' finds no evidence of misconduct or wrongdoing
The IOPC investigation into Lancashire Constabulary's contact with Nicola Bulley prior to her tragic disappearance has been concluded, the regulator has confirmed.
An IOPC investigation concluded on April 4 focused on the actions and decisions of the police officer who attended Ms Bulley’s address prior to her disappearance. A team were responding to a concern for her wellbeing at the property on January 10, 2023. "We also identified two areas of learning for the officer, which relate to recording information on police systems and activation of body worn video."
This is being carried out by the College of Policing, the independent national standard setting body for policing. It has three 'clear areas of focus' including: considering the operational response to the high-risk missing person investigation; the communication and engagement with the press and media, public and family; and the decision making surrounding the disclosure of sensitive personal information.
The review, announced in February, and commissioned by Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Andrew Snowden, is being carried out by the College of Policing. They are the independent body for defining policing standards. Details of how the review is being done, what it will examine, and its timeline have all been published.
