Nike has backflipped on its decision not to sell Lionesses goalkeeper Mary Earps’ shirt after a public feud with the shot stopper.
The 30-year-old, who claimed the Golden Glove award for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, had been fighting with the sportswear giant as her fans wondered why they could not purchase a replica of her jersey.
Mary Earps has recorded a big victory over Nike as the sportswear giant agreed to sell her jersey. Picture: Lars Baron/Getty Images “We hear and understand the desire for a retail version of a goalkeeper jersey and we are working towards solutions for future tournaments, in partnership with FIFA and the federations.
“For my own family, friends and loved ones not to be able to buy my shirt, they’re just going to come out and wear normal clothes,” Earps said,“I know there’s a lot of people who have spent a tremendous amount of money on outfield shirts and then put ‘1 Earps’ on the back, which doesn’t sit well with me either.
“She’s been a huge force for the Tillies and we can’t celebrate her awesomeness by wearing her jersey proudly. We want more Merch!! Please and thank you.”
