LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Nine Lancaster County state roads will close for parts of the next three months beginning next week. Officials expect the improvements will make the roads less slippery."These could be sections of roadway where vehicles are traveling at higher speeds, and entering the curve might be some sight distance issues," said PennDOT spokesperson Dave Thompson.
"When cars and trucks travel over a section of road, there might be what you would call a polishing effect on the roadway surface where it kind of wears it and polishes it makes it smoother," Thomson said."The high friction surface treatment will alleviate that by making it a little bit rougher through that area so there's more friction between the vehicle and the roadway."
