His family's agonising wait for justice goes on
The "funny and charismatic" litigation expert was knocked to the ground at the junction of Harris Street and Birley Street, close to the Flag Market, at 2:40am. The single punch cost Jack, 25, his life, but nine months after the attack, no-one has been charged.
Following Jack's death, on August 14, Det Insp Bryony Midgley said: "This is a heartbreaking and tragic incident which happened when Jack was enjoying a night out with his friend. This is now a murder investigation and while we have made two arrests, we still need to speak to anyone who either saw the altercation."We know a number of people were present in the area at the time, many of whom provided assistance and first aid.
She said: "On the 12th of August 2022, my beautiful Jack was punched and his whole life was taken from him. All it took was ONE punch. Jack had so much more to offer this world, but everything was cruelly taken away from him. The love of my life was gone in the blink of an eye."
