Between Friday, February 7th, and Sunday, February 9th, officers encountered aggression from individuals, some of whom were armed. Ch Insp Luke Moyne stated that all officers remained on duty, a testament to their resilience in the face of these difficult challenges.

Ch Insp Moyne detailed several incidents, including an officer being punched in the face and another officer encountering a woman advancing with a knife. Two more officers were assaulted while responding to a large fight in Derry city center involving a large crowd. In another incident, an officer sprained her wrist while restraining a man, and another suffered a kick to the head. 'We are supporting these officers following a very difficult weekend. They are receiving the appropriate care and our welfare support has been set up,' Ch Insp Moyne said. 'However, assaults across this weekend from just one policing district in Northern Ireland, shows the often grim reality of what our officers on the ground are facing each and every day.'Ch Insp Moyne's statement highlighted the inherent dangers faced by police officers in their daily duties. The incidents underscore the need for increased public awareness and respect for law enforcement personnel.
