I’ve been writing about technology, gadgets, and pop culture back before Apple had even thought of the iPhone. I’ve seen the rise and fall (and rise again) of Apple.

Nomad Goods is back with an even better version of the Glow line of products that, ironically, disappeared last time they were offered.

The original Glow strap for Apple Watch was a fun experiment, infusing Nomad's FKM rubber Sport Band with glow-in-the-dark material for a soft rubber band that lit up when the lights were off. The only problem was that, when the lights were on, it looked like…well, a glow-in-the-dark watch strap, kind of waxy and a bit green.

The Glow Sport Band and brand new Glow Sport Case use material that transitions from a pleasant pale green to an eye-searing neon when the lights go out. It's three times brighter than the original Glow band released nine months ago.

And, right on cue, it’s available as a public beta, too. While there will be many changes in the coming weeks before its final release, the first indications are that there will a lot to look forward to. Here’s what we know.As part of the responses to the European Union’s Digital Markets Act, Apple is opening up the iPhone to alternative marketplaces. With iOS 17.5, a mechanism to make this happen looks likely to arrive.Apple had previously said this: “Web Distribution, available with a software update later this spring, will let authorized developers distribute their iOS apps to EU users directly from a website owned by the developer.” It looks like the foundations are being laid for this in the first developer and public betas. With this update, users in the EU will be able to install apps from a developer’s website
