The decision to fly a 10ft Union flag has torn this small village apart.
Villagers fear plans to fly a giant Union flag will send the wrong message to outsiders A tiny village in Norfolk has become embroiled in a row over flying the Union Jack flag over claims its far-right connotations will drive people away. Claxton, a village with a population of just under 300, has become fiercely divided over plans to erect a flagpole outside the village hall, which some locals claim could put people off moving to the village.

However, some residents are supportive of the plan, with Nancy Harrison saying: ‘Why should we be ashamed of our flag? If it puts people off from moving here then they shouldn’t.
