North Korea says satellite key against possible US 'nuclear attack'

'Our military is fully on alert for any further provocations by North Korea such as another launch of the space launch vehicle.'

North Korea has twice tried and failed to launch a spy satellite North Korea has said its spy satellite programme is essential to counter a ‘preemptive nuclear attack’ by the US as the country tries to secure ‘world domination’, according to state media KCNA.

The first, in May, took off from the country’s Sohae Satellite Launching Ground on board a Chollima-1 rocket, a three stage vehicle. The rocket plunged into the sea after losing thrust following the separation of its first and second stages.
