Collapse-risk concrete has forced the indefinite closure of Motherwell concert hall and theatre
North Lanarkshire Council has confirmed that its main headquarters building does not contain collapse-risk concrete – in the wake of the closure of the adjacent performance venues.

The closure announcement was made as Carluke-based Shine youth music theatre prepared to raise the curtain on a five-night run of Grease at the concert hall, while Airdrie and Coatbridge Amateur Operatic Society were due to have begun a long-awaited four-night run of Oklahoma in the theatre 24 hours later.
Venue officials announced the indefinite closure saying: “A full intrusive survey is required; unfortunately, it is not possible to operate the building as normal while this takes place.
