North Lanarkshire Council celebrates its most successful year for new build housing, delivering 335 affordable homes and implementing community benefits programs.
North Lanarkshire Council has achieved its most successful year yet for its new build housing program, delivering 335 new affordable homes. Over the past year, targeted recruitment and employment initiatives have resulted in 10 new employees from priority groups joining the local authority.
Community benefits are integrated into contracts awarded to housing developers, fostering employment and skills development opportunities for local residents, supporting community projects, and driving economic benefits to areas such as local businesses and supply chains. The council's Community Benefits team collaborates with services like employability, education, and early career pathways within the construction industry, focusing on supporting priority groups. This strategy aims to empower individuals interested in construction careers while also assisting developers in finding suitable local talent. Financial benefits include a £1,080 donation from the Brandon Street Project to the Forgewood Allotments group to rebuild raised beds for disabled plot holders
