A former school teacher, Councillor Magowan was first elected to the council back in 2017 before being re-elected in 2022. “She always has been, and continues to be, a warm and colourful character with a passion for helping people and making a positive difference. Agnes should also be rightly proud of the difference she made in her time as SNP Education Spokesperson and as Provost of North Lanarkshire.
Current North Lanarkshire Provost, Labour's Kenneth Duffy, was also Councillor Magowan’s colleague in the Motherwell South East and Ravenscraig ward.
