Construction is scheduled to commence by 2028.
This announcement follows a six-month review of the '40 new hospitals' program initiated by Chancellor Rachel Reeves, which initially faced delays and uncertainty. Several months ago, MPs were informed that North Manchester General Hospital was among 25 hospitals at risk of experiencing construction postponements. However, Mr. Streeting has now confirmed that North Manchester General Hospital will be categorized among the highest priority projects. He stated that construction for this initial wave of hospitals will begin between 2025 and 2030, while other projects will have to await a later commencement.
