About four years ago, at an early meeting of the North Ridgeville Veterans Memorial Committee, someone brought up the idea that there were many veterans from the city, but no specific place to honor them.
A group of veterans and family members came with their own military truck to be at the grand opening of the North Ridgeville Veterans Memorial on Memorial Day.NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio --
On Monday , hundreds of North Ridgeville residents came to the memorial’s grand opening – fittingly, on Memorial Day.The North Ridgeville High School marching band, with Director Hailey Bryson and Assistant Band Director Megan Arnica, started everything off with an impressive playing of the national anthem.
VFW Department of Ohio Past Commander Jim Hordinski spoke, as did Gene Kleinholz of the North Ridgeville Historical Society. Aviation flyovers brought shivers to everyone as their engines roared high in the blue sky with huge, fluffy white clouds. One was a B25 bomber, originally thought to be a low-level bomber. But it later became the “ultimate strafer of World War II,” organizers noted.
