Well done!👍🏁
A pair of Northamptonshire rookies made their debut at Silverstone for a team of all-disabled racers. Noah Cosby, 18, and Asha Silva, 39, raced at the home of the British Grand Prix on Sunday in the Silverlake Citroen C1 Endurance Championship.
The youngster had his first taste of motorsport when he was just five and his dad, Ben, had been a motocross free rider for years - soon introducing Noah to the sport. He was later riding regularly and building jumps on his grandparents’ farm. Noah was taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital by ambulance and was quickly transferred to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where doctors realised the severity of his injuries. He was operated on for six hours, with two metal bars and nine screws attached to his spine to hold it into place.
"I didn’t lose hope though. I’ve always felt that I could be in a worse situation – I could have been killed. I also believe there is hope of me walking again. Since finishing school, he has been supported by the Matt Hampson Foundation, where he has received physical and psychological therapy sessions and a dedicated personal trainer.
“The team hand controls are amazing, I wish I could put them in my road car. It makes so much sense to use that technology to make driving simpler and easier for disabled people. I’m doing everything I can to get race ready. She realised she may need support with her mental health after going through a conflict with her family and temporarily losing contact with them. Asha said: “I became all consumed with the feeling of loss, and loneliness.
"I received a diagnosis of severe adult autism and ADHD, and although I’m a long way from a treatment plan, counselling, and understanding what is going on in my brain has helped me significantly. I’m also really pleased to say that my relationship with my family is better than ever.” "If I can inspire other women to get into a sport such as this, or to inspire someone who might think they could have a hidden disability to get some help, then that makes me really happy.
