The county is home to sprawling, stunning homes built by among the wealthiest people in its history
Northamptonshire is home to acres of sprawling countryside and impressive houses that are scattered around it.
Cranford Hall Set in the village of Cranford, west of Kettering, the hall dates from the second quarter of the 18th century after being built by the Robinson family. Thomas bought the estate in 1694 and created the Georgian home complete with two wings and vast grounds scattered with statues and ornaments.
Towers form focal points of the spectacular country house that was modernised in around the 18th century. Elizabeth I once owned it after inheriting it from Henry VIII, while it was also lived in regularly at various periods by James I and Charles I. Huge in size and set back from a beautiful lake, it provides a perfect photo opportunity for visitors who are allowed access to it and its 150 acres of gardens.
