Billy Lockett spent three months 'locked in his cellar' recording his classical album Together at Home
A Northampton musician who has played Glastonbury and toured with Lewis Capaldi is celebrating after scoring his first top 10 with an album he spent 'locked in his cellar' recording.
Billy, who grew up in Northampton, was inspired by his 'crazy hippy' late dad who encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He even performed his new single Hard Act To Follow to a global audience of millions on The Late Late Show with James Corden in America. Speaking on Facebook, he said: "Three years ago I signed a major record label deal and wrote 150 songs for an album. They told me 99% of the songs were rubbish, never released the album and let me go. The whole experience was emotionally draining, smashed my confidence and made me start to hate making music.Billy soon clocked up 50 million streams on Spotify and his latest album is a collection of easy listening piano melodies.
