A Northamptonshire paramedic is heading to Turkey following the devastating earthquakes after previously taking his lifesaving skills to Ukraine. Last year Sam Sears, an EMAS Tactical Commander and Paramedic based at Kettering Ambulance Station, went to Ukraine following the Russian invasion.
He has been a volunteer with UK Med since 2012 and prior to his journey to Turkey and Ukraine, was previously deployed with the charity in Sierra Leone during the Ebola pandemic. As with his deployment to Ukraine, the main focus of Sam's work in Turkey has been to provide medical aid on the ground.He said: “Since I arrived I have been based in Turkoglu, a town approximately 30kms from the earthquake epicentre.
