Processing temporary shutdown for repairs and maintenance
Northern Graphite is temporarily shutting down its processing facility at the Lac des Iles mine in Québec, Canada, for repairs and maintenance and to enable the mill to increase output to meet increased graphite demand. The Canadian graphite producer said that repairs will start on November 2, and production is expected to resume on January 6. In the meantime, it will supply customers from inventories and third parties.
"Lac des Iles has the potential to produce more and for longer than anticipated when we acquired the mine in 2022, and we need to prepare as we look to open a new pit and increase throughput at the mill."Northern Graphite already moved the Lac des Iles plant to operate seven days a week in April, which increased output by 59%. It plans to boost output further after the plant reopens at the beginning of 2025.
