A yellow weather warning for ice has been issued for Northern Ireland, with the Met Office predicting a cold week ahead characterized by snow showers and icy conditions. Drivers are urged to exercise caution and prepare for potential travel disruptions.

The weather across Northern Ireland is set to remain cold this week amid a series of snow showers across the UK and Ireland. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice, which comes into affect at midnight on Monday, January 6, and will be in place until 11am. The alert is in place for all counties of Northern Ireland . Over the weekend, a separate warning for snow and ice was in place until 6pm on Sunday, January 5, with the heaviest snow flurries visible on higher ground.

National Highways Severe Weather Resilience Manager, Darren Clark, said: “If you are travelling, keep your distance and reduce your speed. Gritters will be out treating our roads around the clock when ice or snow is forecast, but it is still important to drive to the conditions. “Even in conditions that seem normal and where the snow is not settling you could always experience slippery conditions. Drivers should plan their journeys, check their vehicles, monitor weather reports and pack a snow kit of blankets, food, water and a shovel.” Here is what the weather is forecast to be like this week in Northern Ireland.
