Northern Ireland has retained its two Michelin Star restaurants for 2025, with The Muddlers Club and Ox in Belfast both receiving one-star accolades. While no new stars were awarded to the region this year, chef Michael Deane's new restaurant, mrDeanes, was granted a Bib Gourmand for its excellent value.
Northern Ireland has held onto its two Michelin Star restaurants for 2025. The announcement came as the Michelin Guide 2025 revealed all the new stars for restaurants across the UK and Ireland on Monday, February 10. The Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland awards these stars to restaurants judged to be of exceptionally high standard, with one, two, or three-star gradings.
While no new stars were awarded to the local food and drink industry this year, The Muddlers Club and Ox, both located in Belfast, were once again recognized with one-star status. Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of The MICHELIN Guides, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, 'I am so thrilled to see that our Great Britain & Ireland Guide has had such a strong year yet again. Despite the challenges they face, chefs and restaurateurs have shown us that their talent, commitment and ingenuity know no bounds.' Last year, Northern Ireland lost its sole other Michelin Star restaurant in the guide when award-winning chef Michael Deane announced the closure of Deanes Eipic. However, his new restaurant mrDeanes, which opened the previous summer, was swiftly included in the guide just months after its launch and received Northern Ireland's only new Bib Gourmand - the 'best value for money' designation - for 2025.
