Sky News can reveal the President of the Northern Territory’s Country Liberal Party has quit over the party’s decision to oppose an Indigenous Voice to Parliament.
Lawson Broad told Sky News he had resigned not only from his position as CLP President but also from the party altogether. Mr Broad says his decision to resign was caused by the motion that was passed to oppose the Voice at a central council meeting last month while he was absent. “My personal view is that these positions are offensive to a large number of Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory and the population more generally,” Mr Broad said.
