Norwich City defender Shane Duffy has been arrested and charged with drink-driving after two-vehicle smash, just days before the Canaries play-off semi-final with Leeds United
Norwich City centre-back Shane Duffy has been charged with driving while unfit through drink after a collision involving two verhicles, police have said. The 32-year-old was arrested in Hethersett, near Norwich, late on Monday and is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on July 2.
A spokesperson for Norfolk Police said: "Police were called to Queen's Road, Hethersett, 21:05, on Monday 6 May, following reports of a two-vehicle collision. Emergency services attended the scene and a man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. No-one was injured."
It remains to be seen whether Duffy, who has played 38 times for the Canaries this season, will be involved in the first leg of their play-off semi-final against Leeds United this Sunday, kick-off noon. The return fixture takes place at Elland Road on Thursday, May 16 as the Whites look to win in the end-of-season knockout competition for the first time in their history.
