Hot on the heels of the hit film of the same name starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, an estimated one-and-a-half million people took to the streets of west London to celebrate the annual Notting Hill Carnival, at that point the largest crowd in its history.
We've gone back into the archives to revisit 1999's carnival, the last of that millennium, to experience the sights, sounds and smells of London's biggest street party.
