'Love always wins' Nottingham North MP Alex Norris addresses vigil remembering victims of Nottingham attacks

Many of those attending wore red at the request of the sons of Mr Coates, a lifelong fan of Nottingham ForestThousands have gathered for a city centre vigil to remember the victims of the Nottingham attacks.The families of Grace O'Malley-Kumar, Barnaby Webber, both 19, and Ian Coates, 65, sat in front of Nottingham Council House for the event.

Nottinghamshire Police also confirmed it had referred part of the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct , as a marked police car followed the suspect's van before it collided with two pedestrians.

The force said it was still working alongside counter-terrorism policing and keeping an "open mind" on the motives behind these attacks. "This has included CCTV gathering, forensics, eyewitness accounts and searching a number of properties in the city."The families of the students held hands as thousands of people paid their respects at a vigil on Wednesday
