Brooklyn Anthony, 24, with 26 court appearances, received a 16-month sentence after breaching probation. Fresh offences, including threatening a man with a metal bar and damaging a recycling center, led to his immediate imprisonment. Judge James Sampson stated that the public would be outraged if Anthony's sentence was suspended.

A Nottingham criminal with 26 court appearances to his name at the age of just 24 has blown his chance of avoiding custody. In November, a judge told Brooklyn Anthony he might consider suspending the 14-month prison term he was thinking of passing depending on the outcome of his probation interview for his pre-sentence report.

The defendant’s raft of offences include him mounting a pavement and almost hitting a pedestrian during a police chase in Hucknall; threatening a man with a metal bar in public and smashing a window at a recycling centre during his catalogue of crime this year. He also told officers he would headbutt them when they found him hiding in a bedroom at his home as they went to arrest him, Nottingham Crown Court was told.

Miss Taylor said while on bail for that offence, Anthony was in Hucknall High Street carrying a metal bar which he used to threaten someone with on May 4. She said in the early hours of August 16, the defendant was then caught on CCTV smashing a window at a cabin at Cross Waste Recycling, at Moorbridge Works, in Bestwood Road, Bulwell.
