Latest Nottingham Forest news as Reds beaten 3-1 in opening Premier League International Cup match

Nottingham Forest’s B team lost 3-1 to title holders Jong PSV in their opening Premier League International Cup match.

PSV opened the scoring just past the half-hour mark at Alfreton Town’s Impact Arena as they made the most of a strong start. Jesper Uneken put the visitors 1-0 up with a flick at the near post to beat Forest goalkeeper George Shelvey. The Reds did have their chances throughout. Esapa Osong went close in the first half, while Josh Powell forced a save from Kjell Peersman in the second period.

The tournament features 12 of England’s best academy sides against 12 of the top development squads from the rest of Europe. The teams are split into three groups of eight, with Forest in Group A along with Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sparta Praha, Hertha BSC, Nice and PSV.
