Latest Nottingham Forest headlines including an update on transfer target Jadon Sancho and verdicts on the game against Manchester City
Sancho D-Day Reported Nottingham Forest target Jadon Sancho is facing an imminent decision from Erik ten Hag that could prove crucial to his future. Sancho has had a public fall-out with the Manchester United manager, after the winger claimed his boss lied about why he was dropped from the team.
The former Manchester City prospect called himself a "scapegoat" in a post that was later deleted. It is being reported that Ten Hag will imminently decide whether Sancho will be recalled to the United team for their EFL Cup clash against Crystal Palace. That's according to The Telegraph, who say the decision will be a "significant indicator" on where Sancho stands with the Dutchman.Gary Lineker claim Gary Lineker felt Morgan Gibbs-White "went down quite easily" in the incident that led to Rodri being sent off in Nottingham Forest 's defeat to Manchester City. Rodri was shown a straight red card early in the second half of Saturday's Premier League fixture at the Etihad Stadium after clashing with Gibbs-White. The City midfielder appeared to briefly grab the throat of his opponent, leaving referee Anthony Taylor with little option but to giving him his marching orders. Lineker questioned Gibbs-White's part in the fracas on The Rest Is Football podcast. The Match of the Day presenter said: "The Rodri red card was a surprise for a start, because he always seems in such control and he lost his rag a little bit.Hudson-Odoi brilliance Nottingham Forest have been praised for their second-half performance against Man City, with new signing Callum Hudson-Odoi again picked out for his impact. After scoring a crucial equaliser against Burnley on his debut last week, the former Chelsea man was named on the bench for Forest 's trip to take on treble winners Man City at the Etihad. Fans could have been forgiven for fearing the worst when goals from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland put Man City 2-0 up with less than 15 minutes on the clock. Steve Cooper ’s men were however able to keep the scoreline as it was until half time. They then had a man advantage for the majority of the second half after Rodri was shown a straight red card for raising his hands towards Morgan Gibbs-White ’s throat off the ball.Missed opportunity Nottingham Forest were left pondering a “missed opportunity” after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Manchester City. Goalkeeper Matt Turner admits the overriding feeling among the players at full-time was: “What if?” As in the away games at Arsenal and Manchester United, the Reds felt they deserved something to show for their efforts, but this time at the Etihad Stadium. Two early goals for the hosts made it an uphill battle for Steve Cooper ’s side against the reigning Premier League champions, but they regrouped and had some positive moments towards the end of the first half. They then improved further after the break but couldn’t capitalise on holding a numerical advantage after Rodri was sent off for an off-the-ball incident involving Morgan Gibbs-White.
