A new investigation has been launched into the death of a Nottingham mother who was struck by a bus in Nottingham city centre. Helaleh Cheraghmakani, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision on Lower Parliament Street, which occurred around 6 am on October 22. Following the tragic incident, Nottingham City Transport confirmed one of its Navy Line buses was involved in the collision. A coroner has now opened an inquest into the death of Ms.
Cheraghmakani, who was described as a 'rare soul' by her family. The brief hearing took place on Monday afternoon (January 13) at Nottingham Coroner's Court. Coroner Beth Brown stated, 'I am today opening an inquest touching on the death of Helaleh Cheraghmakani. The hearing now stands adjourned and will be resumed for a final hearing at a date yet to be fixed.' Ms. Brown extended her condolences to Ms. Cheraghmakani's husband, who attended the hearing. A post-mortem examination has been conducted, establishing a provisional cause of death as '1a - multiple injuries.' Paying tribute to Ms. Cheraghmakani following her death, her family said, 'Helaleh was a rare soul – the most genuine person you could meet. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother and, at just 34, she was old enough to carry lifelong dreams and hopes. 'Heartbreakingly, she was taken from us too soon. Helaleh faced life's challenges with courage – always putting others before herself. Her strength and responsibility inspired everyone who knew her. She had a way of caring deeply for everyone she met, bringing warmth and kindness into every room. 'Her innocent departure leaves a profound emptiness in our lives, but her memory will live on in the love she gave and the lives she touched. We will always remember her for the joy she brought and the unwavering compassion that defined her life.' A GoFundMe page was launched to support Ms. Cheraghmakani's husband and young daughter, raising £14,026. Dawn Shaw, co-director and manager of Learning Works for Children, a nursery based on Carlton Road which is attended by Helaleh's daughter, Liana, also paid tribute to the mother. The nursery director said, 'We knew her from being a parent at the nursery, but obviously you get really close to the parents because we're like the children's second mums and we're not just nursery practitioners, we're so much more than that. We help the parents out with no end of stuff that's not even within the job, so you just get on that level with people. 'She was such a lovely person. I know when someone passes away everyone always says 'they were such a nice person', but she was. She was so gentle and just a really lovely lady.
