The pub, on Derby Road, is currently open until 11pm
A Nottingham pub whose earnings took a nosedive after scaffolding was erected for work at the flats above it wants to extend its opening hours. Dave Hawyes, owner of Mist Rolling Inn, a micropub located on Derby Road, has submitted the licencing application to Nottingham City Council.
Mr Hawyes said: "The police approached me for police licensing. They suggested I apply for 2am, as most of my neighbours already have 2am licenses and they said if I applied for it, it wouldn't get frowned on. The owner added that all businesses in the area work together to put on different things at different times, so the extension of the opening hours "is a positive". The pub, which opened in 2022, was hard hit over the spring and summer months as takings dropped by 75 per cent after work began on the flats located above.
Scaffolding was removed, at last, at the end of August. Mr Hawyes said the pub is now doing better, "but there's always space for more". Pub goers now also have access to a rear yard which is covered by a canopy following the works at the flats and could be used for acoustic performances in the future.
