Only four UK restaurants are included
Nottingham's top restaurant has been named as one of the greatest in the world. Les Grandes Tables du Monde, which translates as the world's greatest tables, is an exclusive collection of 200 high-end independent restaurants across 28 countries.
The prestigious association, founded in 1954, brings together top-tier establishments dedicated to gastronomic excellence, innovation, and exceptional hospitality. Just four UK restaurants have been included, amongst them Nottingham's two Michelin-starred Restaurant Sat Bains in Lenton Lane. Three-starred Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester in London and The Waterside Inn, in Bray, Maidenhead, also appear together with two-starred Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire.
Les Grandes Tables du Monde features restaurants in countries including France, Italy, Singapore, Argentina, Hong Kong, Norway and Japan. Restaurant Sat Bains, run by Sat and Amanda Bains, attracts diners from far and wide with a menu of seasonal, modern British cuisine showcased through both tasting and à la carte menus. The entry reads: 'Since 2004 Sat and Amanda Bains have shaped one of Britain's most distinctive restaurant-with-rooms experiences.
Modern British cooking with global influences, driven by flavour, balance and exceptional produce from the British isles.
' Diners are currently being presented with a gastronomic journey of dishes such as chou farci, consisting guinea fowl stuffed cabbage and confit, cepes, duck liver, miso creme, the lightest 'minestrone' emulsion and poultry jus gras, cheese on toast the RSB way with Baron Bigod, black truffle, 20-year-old balsamic, sea salt and toasted sourdough, and strawberries and cream ala. Sat said: 'As a young chef, I used to read Les Grandes Tables du Monde and dream about the restaurants within its pages.
To now see Restaurant Sat Bains included amongst them is something I’m incredibly proud of.
