Nottingham's culinary scene celebrated a successful showing at the prestigious 2025 Michelin Guide ceremony, with Restaurant Sat Bains retaining its two Michelin stars and Alchemilla holding onto its one star. Jericho, just outside Nottingham, was awarded a Green Star for its commitment to sustainable gastronomy.

The 2025 Michelin Guide ceremony, a prestigious event celebrating the best restaurants in the country, took place in Glasgow, honoring a total of 1,147 restaurants, including 220 starred establishments. The ceremony revealed the newest Michelin stars awarded across Great Britain and Ireland, marking a significant date for food enthusiasts. A total of 26 new stars were bestowed upon deserving restaurants, with the first ever plant-based restaurant, Plates in London, earning a star.

Furthermore, 36 new Bib Gourmands were presented to restaurants offering exceptional food at affordable prices. Five new Green Stars were also awarded to restaurants demonstrating outstanding commitment to sustainable gastronomy practices. One of the Green Star recipients was Nottingham's very own Jericho, a restaurant just over the county border in Plungar. Jericho has been making waves recently, having been introduced in 2021 as an accolade highlighting restaurants at the forefront of the industry when it comes to rethinking the impact of their activities and the future of gastronomy. The chefs at Jericho utilize humble ingredients, many sourced from their kitchen garden, and cook them over fire. Their 20-course dining experience, costing £120, features dishes like carrot and sour cream, game bird liver, and rhubarb with swede custard.Nottingham's culinary scene was well represented on the list. Restaurant Sat Bains, located in Lenton Lane, retained its two Michelin stars, solidifying its position as Nottingham's most decorated restaurant. Under the leadership of acclaimed chef Sat Bains and his wife Amanda, the restaurant is celebrating its 25th anniversary and was recently crowned the number one restaurant in the UK by SquareMeal. Diners flock from all over to experience the imaginative tasting menus, which offer ten, 15 courses, or an à la carte option, with prices ranging from £145 to £275 per head. Chef Sat Bains' dedication to pushing culinary boundaries is evident in dishes like duck with truffled toast and Amelia tomato stew with XO, Manni olive oil, shiso vinegar, pickled rose, beurre noisette, and sauce vierge. Nottingham's Alchemilla, headed by chef patron Alex Bond, also retained its one Michelin star, first awarded in 2020. This restaurant, located in Derby Road, offers a £140 tasting menu where fermentation and pickling play a prominent role. Diners can anticipate dishes like pigeon, pickled walnut, cep, and buckwheat koji, and beetroot, blackcurrant, and shiso tea cake. Pescatarian, vegetarian, and vegan menus are also available, along with a three-course menu for £85. The restaurant also boasts a Bib Gourmand award, joining Iberico World Tapas in High Pavement and Japanese grill and Kushi-ya in Low Pavement. The Reindeer in Hoveringham is the sole pub in the county to hold this prestigious award.
