Nottinghamshire could experience its hottest day of the year so far today, as the Met Office forecasts temperatures of nearly 20C. , meaning it could surpass the highs of Tuesday afternoon.
Despite the high temperatures, most of the day is forecast to be glum. However, the sun is expected to peak through the clouds between 1pm and 4pm. "Overnight showers quickly clearing. A rather warm day of sunny spells after mist and fog patches clear," reads the Met Office East Midlands forecast."Chance of heavy and thundery afternoon showers developing. Feeling cooler where low cloud lingers along coastal stretches. Cloud will spread inland late afternoon. Maximum temperature 19C."
Temperatures are meant to drop a little on Friday. The Met Office adds: "Cloudy and unsettled with bands of heavy showers moving west, thundery at times. Showers easing Friday afternoon with a broad area of rain and drizzle then arriving from the south. Maximum temperature 14C."
