The Nottinghamshire mental health trust slammed for its treatment of Valdo Calocane has partnered with the Broadmoor Hospital as it makes improvements. For a period of around two years, the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust had cared for the Nottingham attacks killer Calocane.
The inspections followed the Nottingham attacks carried out by Valdo Calocane, who fatally stabbed Barnaby Webber, Grace O'Malley-Kumar and Ian Coates in June 2023. The length of stay in adult mental health services is still below the required target of 39 days on average by the end of the year. The trust says a pilot will continue this month on "flexible ward capacity" to respond to demand.
