Patients are being warned of disruption

Nottinghamshire health bosses say they will be operating on Christmas Day levels of staffing as they face strike action over the coming days. Both consultants and junior doctors will be walking out over the next few weeks, with the two groups striking together for three days next month.

Consultants have been offered a 6% pay rise and junior doctors who started training this year have been offered a 10.3% rise, with the average proposed rise for junior doctors being 8.8%. But both groups have rejected these offers and their strike action will be the first time in NHS history that junior doctors and consultants have walked out at the same time.

Consultants will strike first across a two-day period from 7am on September 19 to 7am on September 21. Junior doctors will then begin a three-day strike from September 20 until September 23. Finally, the two groups will strike together for three days from October 2 until October 5 - coinciding with the Conservative Party conference.
