A West Bridgford man chased someone up the street after reportedly being woken up by them tampering with his car. Nottinghamshire Police says a 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.
It follows an incident just after midnight on Wednesday when the victim on Musters Road was woken up by loud banging noises. He called police after seeing someone at his car, before chasing the offender up the street. He eventually found that significant damage had been done to the front of the car. Intelligence helped to trace a vehicle suspected to be involved, which was tracked down in Radford at 10.45pm on Wednesday.Several car parts were found during a search of an outbuilding, with the front grill of the victim's car having been ripped off and stolen.
"It is a priority for us because we know people rely on their vehicles to go about their daily lives. Use of intelligence has allowed us to trace a car suspected to be involved quickly and I'm pleased this man is in custody." People with information are asked to call 101, quoting incident number 3 of 21 June 2023.
