Fed-up business owners at picturesque West Bay, in Bridport, Dorset, are being raided three times a week but claim police say solving the crimes are not a 'priority'.

The Jurassic Coast setting for popular crime drama Broadchurch, starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman, appears to also have been targeted as the epidemic threatens to spiral out of control. Tim and Nicole Attrill have now re-designed their entire layout to prevent thieves from entering blind spots.

'It is kids toys and surf jewellery which they take out of the packaging so we find it empty afterwards and by then it is too late.Signs warning about cameras have not stopped thieves from ransacking the shop and Mrs Attrill thinks the rise in thefts might be due to the cost of living crisis.'I'm not sure if this is happening because of the cost of living crisis but the result is we have to put up our prices to cover our costs, which is the last thing we want to do.
'The staff member who was working in the kiosk at the time was tidying up, it was a quiet point in the afternoon.He said: 'Nevertheless, we fully understand the impact that shoplifting can have on our local businesses and we are fully committed to working with the retail sector to tackle this issue.
