The demolition of Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium would not cause any significant environmental impact, according to the National Park Service.
The National Park Service has determined that RFK Stadium is eligible for demolition, and an environmental study determined "no significant effect on the human environment" with the proposed action.
NPS will have to issue a permit to D.C. for it to demolish the stadium and make way for the Commanders to move back to the district.The then-Washington Redskins beat the Dallas Cowboys in 1996 in their final game at the stadium and have not been back to the District since. Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser has previously outlined her plans for the stadium, which include a new indoor sports complex that will “turn the RFK Campus into the premier destination for training, learning, clubs, tournaments, and competitions.”
