The northern leg of the North-South Commuter Railway project has reached about 60% progress rate, according to the Philippines National Railways .At a press conference in Manila on Wednesday, PNR chairman Michael Macapagal said the NSCR ’s Clark to Valenzuela City leg is “currently about close to 60% finished.”“The Clark to Valenzuela, we believe, can be completed within a span of two years,” the PNR chairman said.
For the NSCR’s Metro Manila leg, which involves the construction of elevated and at-grade tracks and stations stretching from Blumentritt in Manila to Sucat in Parañaque City, Macapagal said the “construction will hopefully begin, no, in the soonest.”The PNR chairman earlier said the Metro Manile leg of the NSCR will begin construction in October this year. On March 28, the PNR’s Tutuban-Alabang operations were suspended to make way for the NSCR’s construction.
