Two men have been filmed attempting to vandalise an art installation at Sydney’s Bondi Beach that served as a tribute to the 230 Israeli hostages still being held by Hamas.

Jewish community leaders placed 230 blue and white towels for the installation, each paired with a symbolic pair of thongs, along the Pavilion Railing at North Bondi.

On Thursday afternoon, disturbing footage emerged of two men attempting to destroy posters of the hostages, resulting in a verbal altercation with outraged members of the community begging the men to “leave it alone”. The men argued with outraged members of the community who begged them to"leave it alone". Picture: Sydney Morning Herald. The moving Bondi tribute is one of several similar installations around the globe designed to draw attention to the Israeli civilians still being held by Hamas.

Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-CEO Alex Ryvchin said the actions by the two men were “contrary to Australian values” and stressed it was “unacceptable” to vandalise the peaceful display.
