The Premier condemned the"horrifying and violent attack" and said the entire state was grieving the deaths and injuries of"innocent people". NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb also addressed the press conference, telling reporters detectives would be focusing on the movements of the offender leading up to the incident.“This will be an active investigation for many days and perhaps weeks while we identify the movement of the offender,” she said.
“As you know, the shopping centre is closed while police deal with what was very a very confronting crime scene over a broad area in the shopping centre.”
