DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said that five more people sustained injuries due to the use of fireworks on Dec. 26 to 27. “Ang atin pong mga current na injuries sa paputok ay 25 na ngayon ,” she said in a press briefing on Tuesday, Dec. 27. “Last year at this same time period, we have 22 cases. So, our cases right now are 14 percent higher than last year,” she added.The DOH also noted that 13 cases “sustained eye injuries while two cases had blast/burn injuries with amputation.”
“Eighteen injuries occurred at home while seven occurred in the street. Five cases were allegedly intoxicated with alcohol at the time of the injury. Four cases were admitted. No death was reported,” the DOH said.“Nakahanda po ang aming mga hospital 100 percent; kung meron pong mga injuries na mangyayari; andyan po mga ospital namin para maagapan natin ang mga injuries na ito para hindi na po magkaroon ng kumplikasyon ,” Vergeire assured.
