A Lancashire nurse who kept a stas of drugs at home 'as personal stock' has been struck off following a Nursing and Midwifery Council Fitness to Practise Committee report.
READ MORE: Student with cerebral palsy told she 'doesn't meet criteria for NHS electric wheelchair' despite struggling to walk Eventually, the police had occasion to arrest Norris and searched his home, along with NHS England staff and found, according to the report: "Quantities of drugs, including controlled drugs, were found, which were being stored inappropriately and not being disposed of correctly."
Following NMC guidance, the charge that Norris had been dishonesty was found to have been proved. According to the report, the NMC panel noted that Norris had "admitted dishonesty in creating prescriptions for patients he knew would not receive them." The report reads: "The panel was of the view that in being repeatedly dishonest, Mr Norris had breached a fundamental tenet of the nursing profession, and that his actions could have had serious ramifications for those involved. It considered Mr Norris to have brought the nursing profession into disrepute by behaving in the way that he did."
