Honey Barton visited a walk-in centre with mum Megan after she began to experience swelling in her hands and feet.
An 11-year-old girl who nearly died was rushed to hospital after a nurse took one look at her unusual symptom.
Worried mum Megan told the Liverpool Echo that he knew something was wrong because every day she would "lose a little more" of her daughter. She said: "Her gums would swell over her teeth and her kidneys were failing. She stayed in Whiston Hospital for six weeks, after which she was rushed to Alder Hey, where she started reacting to the treatment and soon became responsive.
Honey sadly became a victim of bullying after being phased back into Year 7, leading her to transfer to De La Salle, where she has developed a newfound confidence. "She's now got loads of mates and is really happy. It makes me emotional that she wanted to do pageants because she has to walk and that's an insecurity of hers but she's really brave.
