A nurse who stopped to help a car crash victim at an accident hotspot was hit by lorry at the same place just days later.
Then, during her own ordeal, the nursing manager from Bicester, Oxon, was driving home from a shift at a care home in Aylesbury January 2021 when a Cherokee ploughed into her. Doctors said her injuries were "the worst they had seen in a crash survivor". The SUV driver was unhurt. Her life-changing injuries included fracturing her hip and sustaining multiple injuries to her left foot, and left her unable to work for months.

"My husband used to work in the police and told me they had never seen an accident that bad where someone had survived," Grainne added. "Even the doctors on the trauma unit were saying that, commenting on how unusual my injuries were."
