A nursery worker accused of killing a nine-month-old girl has denied she 'persecuted' the baby who suffocated after 'being left face down on a bean bag'
Deputy manager Kate Roughley is on trial at Manchester Crown Court accused of causing baby Genevieve's death through her ill-treatmentRoughley, of Heaton Norris, Stockport, denies manslaughter by ill-treatment and an alternative count of child cruelty. Peter Wright KC, cross-examining, said to the defendant: 'I am going to suggest that the contents of that CCTV demonstrated that you persecuted that child, Genevieve?' Roughley replied: 'That's not true.'
The defendant said: 'This was not distress. This is how Genevieve went to sleep in previous times at the nursery.'
