'It is a disgrace that there is no political representation in Northern Ireland to meet with us and it is about time that they started to do their jobs.'
Nurses protested today outside of an"empty" Stormont as they called for urgent action to address low pay, understaffing and devastating cuts.on Thursday, May 18, to highlight a number of concerns among the profession and how they have no political representation to speak to or negotiate with.
"Across the health service departments are understaffed and facing increased pressures and are not getting the support that they desperately need and this will only get worse in the years ahead following the announcement that 300 student nursing places a year will be cut. "We are constantly being told about the cost of nursing, but nobody is talking about the value of nursing, because without nursing care in hospitals, clinics and the community, members of the public are going to suffer.
