NYC adds another enrollment center for IDNYC cards as demand surges

City officials will open a second enrollment center in the Bronx for residents who want to sign up for a municipalThe new Bronx IDNYC facility is slated to open June 24 and boost the number of enrollment centers citywide as demand for the photo identification cards increases. The boost in interest for a city-issued ID card is largely driven by the arrival of new migrants who need the government-issued IDs to show police, their employers or to enter their children’s schools.

Although the Bronx had as many as 10 locations where residents could sign up for municipal ID cards in 2017, it currently has just one. The new enrollment center at 1910 Monterey Ave will be the second one in the borough.
